Three proclamations were read and presented.  They included: Earth Day (April 22, 2024); April National Autism Acceptance Month; and National Volunteer Week (April 21-27, 2024).

Two new police officers were appointed. One ordinance, providing funding for improvements and upgrades to the Municipal Building, was adopted.

Seventeen resolutions were passed. One expressed opposition to State Senate bills regarding the development of Accessory Dwelling Units. Personnel-related resolutions included: a resignation and compensatory time; granting an unpaid leave of absence; hiring a special law enforcement police officer; retirement health care contributions; inclusion of a new position in the support staff contract; and ratifying a collective negotiations agreement.  Several resolutions were provided for the release of performance and restoration bonds as well as for maintenance and performance guarantees. Tax cancellation and liens, as well as a tax refund, were authorized. A traffic enforcement grant shared services agreement with Ocean County was authorized. An emergency temporary budget was authorized for the period before the adoption of a fiscal year 2024 budget.

The Township Engineer reported that the design for Oak Lane safety improvements from Radio Road to Route 9 has been approved by the DOT. He will coordinate with the County and DOT and provide detailed plans and schedules to the Committee when they are prepared. MUA drainage improvement projects, which must be done before road improvements, are out to bid.    

There were no public comments.

During Township Committee comments the volunteer efforts of residents were acknowledged. Volunteers are needed for the township-wide cleanup on April 20th at 9 AM. The Senior Expo is scheduled for May 1st at the Community Center from 9 AM to 12Noon. The next Senior Advisory Committee meeting will be on April 29th at 10 AM at the Cranberry Creek Clubhouse. The Committee noted the passing of Peter Ferwerda, a longtime resident and past member of the Planning Board.
