Little Egg Harbor Township Committee Meeting July 9, 2026

There were three presentations.  A National Night Out will be held on August 4. August 7 was recognized as Purple Heart Recognition Day.   Mayors Essay Contest winners read their winning essays.

Two ordinances were adopted. They provided funding for construction of a Public Works building and preparation of tax maps. A bond ordinance was introduced to provide funding for a Radio Road Sidewalk Project. 

Twelve resolutions were passed. There were several personnel appointments. A financial and accounting consulting agreement was authorized. The 2026 budget was amended to include revenue from a grant. Purchase of a police vehicle was authorized. A cash management plan was approved. A performance guarantee was released, and funding was provided for an approved tax map. 

The Township Engineer reported on improvements on Radio Road and Center Street. He noted grant funds were provided for safe routes to school projects on Frog Pond Road and near the high school. 

During public comment concerns were raised about the proposed Lennar project on Center Street. A speaker discussed a pre school project and noted a need for volunteers. A resident asked if the beach water was tested and was told that it was. Concern was raised about the need for speed bumps on portions of Center Street. A resident asked that a performance bond not be released until basins became operational. 

 During Committee comments the essay contest participants were praised.  The July fourth program was praised as very successful, despite the extreme heat.  The next Senior Advisory meeting will be on July 22 at Sea Oaks.

Little Egg Harbor Township Committee Meeting May 14, 2026

There were seven presentations. They recognized ALS, Older Americans, Mental Health Awareness and Gun Violence Awareness Months. In addition, National Safe Boating and National EMS Weeks were acknowledged. A Memorial Day Prayer was recited.

One ordinance to establish compensation for Township employees was presented for first reading and introduction

 Personnel related resolutions included appointments, promotions, resignations, retirements, and a leave of absence. Shared services agreements for fuel services were authorized. Performance guarantees were released.  Two resolutions drew pro and con comments from attendees.  One opposed proposed legislation that would allow religious and non-profit organizations to convert certain properties. It was opposed because it denies local autonomy in land use planning. Another supported the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act (SAVE) which would require documentary proof of US citizenship for voter registration in federal elections. Another resolution opposed proposed reductions to the Stay NJ Property Tax Relief Program included in the states FY 2027 budget. A township wide garage sale was authorized for the weekend of July 18-19, 2026. Sale of surplus real property was authorized.

The Township Engineer reported on drainage paving and road improvements at various locations.  

During public comments there were numerous comments about speeding on township roads including Center Street, which was characterized as a freeway. Concern was expressed about the “walkability” of streets because of the lack of sidewalks. Issues were discussed about the performance of paving contractors.  A resident presented the Committee with a flag that flew over the US Capitol. It was suggested that more information on proposed ordinances be provided in advance. 

During Committee comments residents were urged to participate in the Community Day May 16th at the Community Center. Participants in the recent Senior Expo were thanked for making it a success. It was noted there will be a Memorial Day parade. The next Senior Advisory meeting will be held on May 18 at 10 am at Mystic Shores.
